He debuted as a movie actor as Billy Fernandez in 24/7 in Love and starred in Pagpag: Siyam na Buhay, She's Dating the Gangster, Crazy Beautiful You, and Barcelona: A Love Untold.
On May 28, 2012, Padilla released his self-titled mini album, Daniel Padilla, which was certified double platinum in the Philippines. His full-length studio album, DJP), released in 2013, was certified double platinum. Following his debut album, he had his first headlining concert, Daniel Live! He released his second studio album, I Heart You, in 2014, which was certified double platinum. He held his second concert, DOS (Daniel on Stage). His fourth studio album, I Feel Good, was released in 2015. His third concert was Most Wanted. In December 2016 Padilla released his compilation album DJ's Greatest Hits.
As a TV actor Padilla has received awards and nominations including the Anak TV Awards in 2013 and 2014 for Youth Role Model of the Year, 2016 EdukCircle Awards for Most Outstanding Young Actor in Television and Most Influential Celebrity of the Year. As a movie actor he has won numerous awards including PEP List Awards in 2014, 2015, and 2016 for Movie Star of the Year (Male), GMMSF Box-Office Entertainment Awards in 2014, 2015, and 2016 for Prince of Philippine Movies.
As a recording artist Padilla also has won numerous awards including Awit Awards in 2013 and 2014 for Best Selling Album of the Year, 2015 Myx Music Awards for Favorite Male Artist & Favorite Song – "Simpleng Tulad Mo", 2014 PMPC Star Awards Male Pop Artist of the Year, and 2015 EdukCircle Awards category Most Influential Concert Performer of the Year: Most Wanted.
Padilla has also received recognition globally. He was nominated in the 2013 World Music Awards in three different categories, and he won a 2015 Kids' Choice Award for Global Slime Star.
